Just an update on our folding tandem that we've had for a couple of years now. Love the bike! It did however need a few upgrades: 1. The plastic pedals, a previous reviewer mentioned them breaking, well yes they do, when a bit of pressure is put on them e.g. when climbing a hill, so now I have 4 folding metal pedals, and no issues! 2. New brakes: callipers and cables, especially the rear one – this was necessary because the spring mechanisms on the supplied callipers weren't very responsive, so I now have new callipers and cables and no issues. 3. Mountain bike tires replaced the slick tyres, essential if you riding on any surface that isn't a totally smooth surface.
Most importantly though, as with any folding bike, prior to every ride remember to ispect the bracket where the fold is made on the frame, as this is likely to be a potential weak point.
Happy cycling!

I am so glad I checked out all other kits and came back to Greenzone. It was easy to install and wow the performance is great.
I am using my bike more and love that it has extra help on those long rides that really tuckered me out in the past.

Hi my name is joe, I bought one kit at first for myself I ride around tons of hills and have my 2 year old on a bike seat with me so it鈥檚 really hard for me to get around the neighborhood. But! With this e wheel no problem I go on long bike rides all around with an extra 30-40 pounds of kiddo on the back wheel, no problem. Still a workout and the right amount of pedaling but not unenjoyable. Bought another one right away for my wife and she absolutely loves it, makes family time way way better. Installation is a breeze and use is easy, just pop the battery on and go.

Very attentive customer service. They emailed me after my order to make sure they had it right. Then emailed me again with the instructions for install. So helpful!
I purchased the 26" motorized front wheel to attach to an adult trike. Super simple install. The best part is there are only 2 wires and the battery is included in the price which is what made this the best choice for us. I had been researching for months, getting frustrated with all the complicated motors with tons of wires and no battery included. I was so excited to find this option. This is literally plug and play!

I just installed the 26 inch electric bike kit on the folding tandem we got from Greenzone a few years ago. It works like a charm! I finished the assembly, took it around totally on electric a few miles with only me, then my wife and I both got on and went another few miles on electric only. I was originally concerned the combined weight of us on the tandem would be too much load on the motor to be a useful application of the kit. I am happy to report that is not case. Since our intention is to use the motor to assist us going up slight grades or against the wind, I think it will work fine (it does seem to have a lot of low speed torque too).
I am happy with this purchase!

鈥?I love that my Greenzone folding bike is compact and light enough to fit in the cabin of my Cessna 150. Now I can have comfortable easy transportation wherever I decide to land. I can use it to quickly ride from small airports to the boardwalks on the Jersey shore, to the diners down the street, or even just to explore America鈥檚 beautiful small towns accessible by small airports everywhere. It folds in minutes, it is comfortable and sturdy to ride, and it is of great quality especially for the price鈥?-Mark Philadelphia PA

Love our bikes! We purchased two 10 years ago because they fit in our Honda Fit and just recently purchased a third. The updated design is every bit as classy as bikes with a higher price point. We have been satisfied with durability, mechanics and appearance; consistently receiving compliments and "cool bikes!" Visiting grandchildren? Simply adjust the seat and handlebars and shrink the bike to fit. Great for travel, home and camping. Note: old butts may need a cushier seat, but slip on memory foam pads are readily available.

Got my greenzone 16" bike and was excited. I was really looking forward to finally having a bike I could take with me on the train. I did a test ride and all seemed well enough. It performed about as well as I expected a bike with 16" wheels to.
My troubles began with my first real ride. 5 miles home from the train. Within the first 50 feet of riding I came upon the problem. The bike's handlebars have a tendency to shift to one direction or the other when you're riding, but the wheel will stay in the same position.
I figured I probably just didn't tighten the handlebar stem enough when I unfolded it. No biggie, so I tightened every joint on that stem as tight as my fingers could manage and thought that would solve it.
It did not.
The problem persisted and it still persists to this day. It makes for an incredibly unsafe ride, seeing as the ride home from the train is almost entirely adjacent to busy roads. I have lost count of the times I've come close to falling into traffic because the handlebars just shift unexpectedly no matter how much I tighten any of the parts.
I'm taking my bike to get looked at soon to see if this problem can be fixed, but I can tell you I definitely won't be riding this bike to the bike shop.
The only thing that saves this bike from a single star rating is that I legitimately thought the test ride I did when I first unboxed the bike was good and because the bike came with a lot of good extras for the price.

The GreenZoneFolding bike is really a well-built bike. I needed a bike that was easy to transport in my compact car and this filled the bill. Recently I had an issue assembling the latching mechanism and got a quick response from GreenZone and was able to resolve the situation. I would highly recommend this folding bike!

Purchased the 26鈥?mountain bike 2 years ago. I don鈥檛 see it on the Greenzone site anymore. One of my best purchases. It folds into the back of my Cherokee along with my Trak folding kayak when I vacation (month) in Florida each year. Great bike, sturdy, fluid gears. Biked 17 miles 4 days ago, 12 yesterday. Only criticism I鈥檇 have is the location of the water bottle (necessary because of the high single folding bar). I hope they bring this model back if discontinued.

Original Review 10/28/17: Very nice bike for the price. Sturdy and the weight was not more than I expected for this type of bike. Assembly was easy. Step-over height is low which we appreciate. I decided to buy this folding tandem because I was concerned about how long a tandem bike would be on the back of a car. It also was hard to find overall dimensions of non-folding tandems. This tandem is about 92鈥?long unfolded. After seeing it mounted on the back of our minivan, we probably did not need the folding feature, but it鈥檚 still nice to have, especially when mounted on our smaller car. It was a huge challenge figuring out how to mount it on our bike carrier, especially with the bike folded. The spokes were in the way, and the center of gravity of the bike was very high, making it want to flop over. Eventually I came across a bike adapter bar that鈥檚 usually used to make it easier to mount girls鈥?bikes. It was perfect for mounting the tandem. The feature that we like the most about this bike is the independent coasting feature. It makes it very easy to start and stop. GreenZone calls it an Independent Pedaling System on their website, but that is not really accurate, because both riders still have to pedal at the same speed for each rider to contribute to the pedaling effort. The other feature we really like is the high handlebars. The person on the back can see more than just the back of the front person (unless the front person is much taller). Note that the seats are a little closer together than some other tandems. We had to raise the front seat and move the front seat forward and the back seat rearward so that the back rider鈥檚 knees did not hit the handlebar. It would be more of a problem if the back rider was much taller than the front rider. We had just a couple of small quality problems. The back brake was sluggish and we could not get the front chain tight with the tensioner. GreenZone was very good working with us to resolve the problems. A suggestion for the future would be for GreenZone to change the front chain tensioner to a spring type tensioner vs. a manual adjustment. I am also considering changing the 7-speed gearset to a wider range to give more help on hills. The current gearset does not allow us to tackle more than just a pretty small hill. It鈥檚 not a big problem since we mostly do rail trails, but it鈥檚 not quite sufficient for much more than that. It鈥檚 an older style Shimano 鈥渇reewheel鈥?gearset (14,16,18,20,22,24,28), so choices are limited. The only wider range that Shimano still makes is a MegaGear that changes the largest gear from 28 tooth to 34 tooth, but that would make a large jump between gear 1 and 2. Other choice would be to replace the wheel with a wheel that has a newer style 鈥渃assette鈥?such as the HG50.
Update 8/26/18: One of the front folding pedals shattered at the pivot, so we had to walk it home. We aren't athletes, and we don't use the bike very often, so I was surprised that it shattered. Folding pedals don't really make it easier to transport the bike if you're transporting it using a bike carrier, so I replaced both front pedals with non-folding pedals, which should be stronger than folding pedals.

.First heard about Greemzpme after seeomg a daytime-TV segment on youtube. Called company and inquired about their folding tandem bikes, which I couldn鈥檛 find anywhere else. They were very informative and most of all, especially patient with a novice like me.
Bike arrived in NYC within 4 days, took it out of the box, easy re-assembly, and was pleasantly surprised to find that it came with the little bells and whistles of luxury bike, such a great seats, molded handlebar grips. Bike proved to be fugged, withstanding the abuse you鈥檇 expect from a novice rider.
Evently, motorized the bike with a 500W 48V rear hub motor and now I鈥檝e got the only folding tandlem ebike, as far as I know. Only thing on my wishlist is that they have a suspension on the tandem.
Last, been so impressed with the product, I bould one of their 26-inch (FS) models and got a great quality bike that I expected.

My Greenzone tandem has actually made cycling with my wife fun, for both of us, no really, it has. 🙂
I am an avid cyclist brought up in an urban community, she came from farm country and rode horses in her youth. Our lives merged and she lives near the city with me now. For three decades she has tried to humor me and my cycling, riding her bike beside me on the path or gritting her teeth in traffic that frightened her.
Our tandem bike has changed her view of riding dramatically. Now she initiates rides. She feels safe behind me on the road and today she played Pokemon Go behind my back while we rode down the bike path. Now I can enjoy riding with someone I love which is a pretty special thing for me.
The independent pedaling feature has made tandem riding smooth for us. The Mrs. claims that this bike is the first on that she's ever been comfortable on. She likes the high handle bars and upright seating position as well. The bike folds to the same length or less than many of my other bikes though I haven't put it in the car yet.
All of my dealings with Green zone have been through Alan, he has been very helpful and always quick to respond. We are really enjoying the tandem bicycle experience and have received numerous compliments on the bike. It has turned out to be an excellent purchase for us.

folding tandem- regret my purchase.
First off the price can't be beaten- but you get what you pay for. On the second time we rode the bike one of the pedals broke and sent us crushing on the side of rode. When I contacted Greenzone they directed me to simply buy a new pedal. To be safe we got 4 new metal reinforced pedals for our brand new bike.
During the rides there are all kinds of creaks. I am not sure if this is normal for a folding bike or if this is due to movement of the metal fenders but it is concerning. Almost every time we took it out the chain came off and my wife had to come to my rescue and put it back on.
Also keep in mind that this is a relatively heavy city bike with 7 speeds, where I live there are a lot of hills and it can be very difficult to climb them even with both of us pedaling on the lowest gear; Alternatively biking on the highest gear doesn't get us going very fast.
It is still fun to ride, if I had known about all these issues I would have probably opted for a more expensive folding tandem. I guess it is good if you are unsure whether you will use the bike a lot, just replace the pedals as soon as you get them.

I purchased my greenzone bike about 3 years and it's still going strong! Living in NY I needed something convenient and easily transportable. It fits perfectly in my truck and leaves more than enough room for groceries. No need for an external bike rack to scratch up the car.
It was a fantastic purchase…no regrets.

I'm no newbie when it comes to folding bicycles as I've owned two 20" wheel folding models in the past. I did a few months of research looking for a reasonably priced full size folder and the search led me to Green Zone Bikes and 4 months in I can honestly say that I love my Premium Edition FS model bicycle. First off the assembly was very easy as it comes very well packaged and about 80% assembled. Took 10-20 minutes total to unpack and set up. I love that its alloy and only weighs 34 lbs as I was already used to carrying a 33 lb smaller bike. The folding mechanism is much simpler than I was accustomed to even with it being a bigger bicycle overall. The 21 speeds really come in handy because I'm not always on flat or downhill surfaces. I can get to about 16 mph in the highest gear on flat roads. The shocks are great for the off-road as well as city cycling as I'm usually flying off street curbs with no worries. To cut it short I love this bike and it's great that I have to get out and exercise to enjoy it because as much as I love looking at it I enjoy riding it MUCH more. If you want a full size folding bicycle that's reasonably priced and built to get you from point A to B get the FS model. You won't be disappointed!
