The team of men that helped us move from Lewisville TX to Killeen TX were excellent. Right on time, loaded everything in truck and showed great care in putting my possessions in my new home. They were very polite and worked very diligently. I would recommend your company to others.

First move in 20+ years but comparing to 3 previous moves, it is an excellent move so far.

GVL completed a move for me from Dallas to NYC. Before the move, Arthur did a great job of selling the company as a whole, their reviews, and the care they provide. He explained the difference between them and brokers, and how GVL had their own trucks and people who handle moves. It sounded great, so I trusted them with everything I own on a cross-country move. I also paid an extra $750 (~$5,800 total move) to guarantee a 5-day window of delivery (normal range is 15-20 days).
This is exactly how things went on my move. No exaggerations.
First, I was assigned to Ross as my contact. Ross did a poor job of coordinating with me and my building in NYC. Often, he would not reply to emails, and when he did reply he would remove my roommate and building management from the emails. Eventually, I found out that GVL didn鈥檛 meet the insurance needs of my building in NYC or the state of NY. In NY, you must provide workers comp, and GVL does not do this. Ross left it to me to figure this out.
Then came pick-up day. The movers arrived 3 hours late. Generally speaking, they did a good job. They certainly didn鈥檛 pack my fragile items as Arthur told me they would, but they were professional and I was comfortable with the pick-up.
**Here is the important thing about all of the reviews you see on here** The movers told me they couldn鈥檛 leave until I completed a survey about their work. This 鈥渟urvey鈥?was a link to a Google Review. They stand there and watch you give the review, which puts pressure on the customer to give a higher rating (remember this when reading other reviews).
Then Ross and Arthur went almost silent for 3 weeks. They wouldn鈥檛 answer my calls/emails. I had no idea when to expect my things.
Finally, we鈥檙e on the last day of the 5-day window that I paid $750 for, and they tell me they can鈥檛 make it. They removed the $750, but I canceled everything else in my life that week, so I could be there for when they arrived. If they would have given me any communication, I could have planned differently.
Then they told me my things would arrive the next Monday at 9 am, then 10 am-12 pm, then 5 pm, then 9 am the next day. Again, I鈥檓 canceling everything to meet them, and they can鈥檛 give me a trustworthy answer.
Finally, they arrive, and it鈥檚 two guys to unload a 2BR apartment. They only accept the second half of the payment in cash (the first half was taken at pick-up by certified check). And they make you give them the cash before they unload. Also, they were not employees of GVL in TX like they promised me. They were an unaffiliated carrier. GVR just gave our stuff to some guys from North Carolina and hoped for the best.
The final unload – Not to be dramatic, but it was gut-wrenching. Every box they unloaded was damaged. Some boxes were half the size that they left at. Boxes marked as fragile were nearly destroyed. It was only two guys, so they were moving quickly, constantly banging our furniture and art against door frames and walls. They were literally throwing boxes marked as fragile on the floor. The only thing that mattered to them was finishing. They had the cash. It鈥檚 not like I can do anything. When I finally opened my art, the glass in every picture frame was shattered.
Also, hey told me that my couch and table wouldn鈥檛 fit in the elevator, so my roommate and I had to carry them up 5 flights of stairs. The movers did not carry them up 5 flights of stairs, the customers did. Granted, they offered to carry them up for an additional $2K.
Worst customer service I鈥檝e ever received and I have thousands of dollars in damages. It鈥檚 difficult for me to find something I own that is not damaged now. Do not use this company if you value your time, money, or belongings.
I don鈥檛 write reviews often, but it鈥檚 important that companies like Green Van Lines are held accountable to their promises and their work, especially when taking customers hard-earned money.

I contacted them within two weeks with my new address and availability to accept delivery. However, if I did not constantly call them to get an ETA on delivery they would never call me. The day of delivery I was forced to pay a long haul charge. I am on the 2nd floor, elevator so no stairs and less than 100 ft from elevator. They did unpack and set up the items they packed but left all their cardboard and shrink wrap in front of my door for me to dispose. One of my dressers so now I will see how they plan to resolve it.
Not at all impressed that after they charge you for everything they request tips, which I found insulting since they did not go above and beyond what they were contracted to do. Overall, my experience was ok.

This company is exemplifies "over promising, under delivering." Like some of the other reviews on here, initially the experience is very positive and they appear professional. Once they've got you hooked on a fair quote, it's game over.
Here was an email I sent with some of my grievances, per their request, that received no follow up:
1) The movers showed up 3 1/2 hours late from their scheduled appointment of 11 AM CST. I was told, first by you, and then them when they called on at least a couple occasions during the day, pushing back our scheduled appointment they would be expeditious in the pickup. When they showed up at nearly 2:30 PM CST they barely finished by the 6 PM CST cutoff of the leasing office closing for me to return the keys and close out my agreement. This is on top of the fact I had to change my flight to the following day and get a hotel, due to their late arrival, which alone cost me ~$500 all in.
2) When they arrived I was surprised to find out I wasn't able to use any of my credit cards without paying a 5% fee and personal checks were not accepted. I realize this was in the contract, but something I frankly glossed over given I've used other moving services, where I've never had this problem. As you can probably imagine, most people don't just carry around $2k in cash. Had they arrived on time I could've ran to the bank and pulled out the cash. Nevertheless, your payment policy and their tardiness just added stress to an already stressful day.
3) The quote increased by over $1000 at which point the foreman made a number of adjustments (on his clipboard) pointing to errors made by the home office. The fact he was calculating #s on his phone on a bunch of paper, told me this was an error prone process. The entire revision of the quote process just felt like a numbers game instead of being transparent, and frankly not one I was inclined to participate in in 100%+ sweltering humidity. The final outcome was an expected quote/bill still $500 over the originally quoted price.
Even after this, I called numerous times, to get an update on the quote that they indicated they would review for potential deductions and to provide a moving date. Every time I called and managed to get someone on the phone, they told ME to call them back for an update, because THEY were too busy. I spoke with Jason who spun a story that the foreman made a huge error and I was getting a killer deal.
The icing on the cake that's led me to submit this review and every other I plan on posting online is they promised me a delivery between Friday-Sunday of this week (it's already been 3 WEEKS), they just called to tell me my delivery won't be here until Thursday/Friday of next week.
They went days avoiding my calls.. this company MAY be equipped to handle local/Intrastate moves in Texas, but certainly not interstate. I get the feeling they wait to aggregate as many deliveries to a certain area as possible, at the customer's expense, to maximize their profits.
Seriously do yourself a favor, and plan on paying for a marginal difference, but saving yourself much unneeded stress and concern.
