Be aware, Claims Settlement Agencies Ltd seem to deal with the claims for many of the travel insurers that come up on price comparison websites, so it's worth checking if they're involved and personally, if I find they are, I will be choosing another insurer.
Here's why.
I am in the midst of trying to make a small claim for a lost item (a pair of c.拢100 sunglasses), and have been told I need confirmation from the hotel (where the loss occurred) that I reported the loss. This is in addition to filling in the claims form which contained far more detailed information than was relevant to the claim, digging out the receipt and so on (they were a gift from my wife several years ago; by luck we found the receipt, otherwise presumably the claim would have been rejected out of hand). I can evidence reporting the loss, but the fact the hotel did not respond to me is outside my control (and they are now closed for the winter) and should not invalidate my claim.
Regardless, the claims advisor told me the claim would be rejected without the report from the hotel. If I was unhappy with this, I would need to appeal to the underwriter and so on.
Seriously? The insurer will gladly reject my claim simply because a busy resort hotel has not bothered to write back to one customer to confirm they do indeed have my loss report for what is in the scheme of things, a very trivial item, and that they haven't got it.
