Obviously you can search for almost anything. So there is potential for young children to see age inappropriate material. For a 5 star rating use "safe mode"

The best search engine there is, when all considerations are taken into account. The built-in enabled by default safesearch settings are pretty effective, almost perfect, which is why I rate this site as suitable for children on the basis that this setting is left on and the proper controls to ensure it is not turned off are in place. Now for the bad. Google and it's parent company Alphabet have been sickeningly milking the surveillance capitalistic system for decades, selling our data to the highest bidder, and developing obscenely sophisticated algorithms that can accurately predict human behaviour, emotion, and feelings to the point that it is simply just frightening. They lose two stars for being one of the most unethical tech giants on the planet. The near future will soon tell whether they get reduced to one.

Google is a great web search engine. It's child safe as long as your search queries are suitable. If you use Google Chrome with Google, it'll also have an extra layer of security. Google tracks your usage but you can easily delete this data in your Google My Account dashboard.

When I accessed an article on this site I had a pop-up overlay most of the screen without any way cancel it unless I filled in my details for a competition I have no interest in.

Ah well… there's a tracking system in their searches but then again, they also track your other activties as well. Really if you care about privacy, use DuckDuckGo or other search engines that cares about priviacy.
