Wife and I bought pixel and pixel xl 3 years ago and now now more security updates. A phone should last more than 3 years. I guess google does not stand behind their phones. Then only gives a lousy $35 trade in value. Customer service is crap. Company is going down hill fast. Read people are also having trouble paying bill, they cut service through no fault of customers and won't release phone number to go to another service, so big hassle.

In search of a cheaper cell service last year, I landed on Project Fi, before it was turned to Google Fi. I was paying $80/month 2 lines w/ 2gb data with Verizon. I mainly rely on WiFi, so getting a large or unlimited data plan is not necessary for me, so I was quite attracted by the pay as you go model for data.
As I can't swallow the price tag of flagship phones, I was glad to see Fi had a cheapie motorola g6 for $100 w/ decent specs for the price. Switching over was pretty seamless and the customer support was quite helpful and quick to get ahold of, so that was also nice.
Thanks to averaging 1gb data per month, I save $20 or more per month compared to what I had been paying which is a win for me.

My only gripe:
-Spotty connection quality with voice calls in my house. However, occasionally I get push surveys after phone calls asking how the call quality was. It's been gradually defaulting to WiFi calling which has helped tremendously. It'd be nice if there was a setting to make that default when I'm connected to WiFi though.

Customer Service Review: Google Fi Customer Service agents deceived me. I bought a new phone for a relative, hoping to get $199 voucher promotion. I enrolled the new line and contacted Customer Service agent specifically asking to verify that I satisfied the terms of the promotion. I was not prepared to keep the line and the phone without the promotion. I was assured by a Google Fi agent that all I need to do now is to keep paying for the line to be active. After several months of waiting I contacted Google Fi again and was advised to wait longer. After another month I contacted again and was told that in fact there was a term in the promotion which I did not satisfy at the very beginning (and Google Fi knew this all this time), they will not be giving me the promised $199 and there will be no compensation for the lies I had been told.

Because it's a company that is worth BILLIONS of dollars they ultimately do not care 1 bit about their customers because in their mind I'm 1 in billions of people. I purchased a pixel 2 from them brand new when it first came out, not even a month later it was already 150-200 off the original price. Then a couple months into having the phone, it stops being able to charge so I sent it back to get a replacement. They replace it with a used phone and the battery life on it is crap. I go a couple hours with minimum use and it's down from 98 to about 60-70%. They refuse to replace it because I had dropped it last month and there is a crack on the glass in the top right corner on the back. They could replace the battery for me for all I care, I just want a phone that doesn't need to be charged 2-3 times a day this isn't 2007.

Didn't get service in Alaska and didn't work in Bulgaria despite saying it should. Apart from that the service has been pretty good, it's definitely easy for people who travel a lot. Customer service is available easily and they try hard even if they've ultimately been unhelpful a couple of times. Relative to other cell carriers though it's good.

Customer service review. Terrible (it used to be excellent, top notch) now, it is down right the worst thing ever. We have been waiting for 4 months to receive a refund for our phone that was returned. They have acknowledged that the phone is in their possesion, but they still are having trouble understanding a refund. Do not recommned.

I tried to switch two phones from Verizon to Project Fi with the hope of saving $50+ per month. The enrollment process is no cleaner than with any cell phone provider. The would not allow me to enroll both phones at one time, dropped by enrollment twice, will not honor the trade in for more than one phone and customer service is excuses rather than solutions. Very under impressed, in fact may actually return my phones and stay with Verizon.

I've been using project fi now for about 4 months. For 2 years I had Verizon prepaid wireless, which means I had bad quality phones, and even worse quality service. I couldn't even make a phone call from inside my house. Since being on fi, I have saved a lot of money. And that's with 2 financed devices, and 2 phone plans. My bill is STILL Cheaper than with Verizon, and I can make phone calls indoors! Plus you get credited each month for any unused data. I live in a very rural area, and have not have one problem with service yet, and the support staff is amazing! Make the switch, you won't be sorry!

It sounds too good to be true: It is. Or at least it is for me. Google offers a courtesy telephone number with every Google Account. This telephone number will never change no matter what, As long as you use it. Any period of inactivity and you risk losing your Google Account telephone number. You can check for text messages with your Google Voice or Gmail accounts. They also offer voice service. All of this is dependent on a third party Internet connection. Google decides to expand its Google Voice service and all they did was rename its existing service to "Project Fi" which STILL uses third party connections! What they are doing is making you choosing between your already existing and previously courtesy telephone number AND CHARGING YOU FOR IT, or give up your Google Voice number entirely. I like the idea of keeping my existing number, but I don't like that they are trying to charge me for my telephone number which used to be free!! You have to pay for your telephone and they only offer two or three telephone. All of them are touch screen. None of them are BlackBerry. I am not interested in Google Fi. I fight AGAINST trends and I am sick of the iPhone, Android, and "Social" Media. Phones are meant to call, text, and also email. They are supposed to be professional tools instead of fun toys. Also touch screens are the stupidest thing invented so I will just switch to Verizon, which actually has their own towers, and they sell the BlackBerry, including the BlackBerry Classic which has a touch screen but it also has the familiar KeyBoard and TrackPad. And neither iOS nor Android in sight. Google Fi's towers that they use are Sprint or T-Mobile, which means Sprint because T-Mobile never works. Google Fi charges data by the gigabyte. Yawn. The price gouging is never going to end. And I bet you can't even tether with it. What I fear the most is that Google might discontinue Google Voice and replace it with Project Fi.

You have to have a very specific phone to use this service but if you a;lready have a Nexus 6, Nexus 5X or Nexus 6P then jump on board. $20 for unlimited talk and text, and the $10 a GB for Data. If you can use mostly WiFi you can save some money. Plus this works in other countries making travel for me much easier now.
Give them a shot…..I LOVE GOOGLE!!!!
