I was promised a 4-5 star resort in my choice of several locations (Orlando, Cancun, etc.) and a cruise. After paying over $1100, attempts to reach people to try to set up a reservation were a nightmare! Always on hold, etc. I faxed information, and trusting/gullible person that I am, actually paid another $250+ to upgrade rooms to a villa. When I FINIALLY got a verbal confirmation (no numbers, no pdf forms, etc.) and researched the "4 star" Calypso Cay "Resort" in Orlando, it turned out to be a TWO STAR TIME SHARE scam. After RESGO confirmed reservations at Calypso Cay, I called the hotel there. They do NOT have my reservation.
NO MENTION of time share was made during the phone sales pitch. my husband and I were trying to plan a once in a life time trip for our grandchildren (they live w/ us – both parents are mentally ill) that we could afford on a fixed income.
In the villa upgrade info, it stated that there was an age limit – 65.
Both my husband and I are over that limit and were at the time of the initial phone call. I gave our real dates of birth, so no agreement ever should have been made.
I've called repeated times to try to talk with someone in authority. The receptionist will NOT give me a name of a "responsible party" but assures me that I will be contacted the very next day. No contact, of course. I have, in writing/email, requested that the reservations that are supposedly made be cancelled and all of my money returned. Besides hiring a lawyer, do I have any other legal recourse?? HELP!
