Carjet is a car rental comparison site that you can book through. A car was booked for me through Carjet in August. When I arrive to pick the car up from the third party car rental office, it was shut. It had been shut for 5 months due to Covid. The third party rental company had emailed Carjet the day after I had booked to advise that they could not honour the booking. Carjet had not passed that message on. Due to their error I had to take a taxi, 3 hour train journey, and then book another car at the last minute on a Bank Holiday weekend, which all added up to approximately 拢600 and a lot of hassle.
Carjet apologised for the error and eventually agreed to refund the booking amount. They told me in November that they would be sending a compensation offer shortly. This never materialised and they now refuse to compensate for the expenses incurred because of their oversight, even though they are undoubtedly responsible and originally acknowledged this. They have now stopped communicating altogether. We will pursue a claim through legal routes, which is ridiculous for a pretty clear fault.
While my experience is probably a rare occurrence, how they have handled the matter has been woeful. No one takes responsibility, there doesn't seem to be a dedicated customer service team, their manner varies between pleasant and obnoxious, and I would not have confidence in how they would handle any complicated issue, such as an accident or breakdown.
Whatever the cause, the effect is a potentially a very inconvenient, frustrating, and costly experience (in time and money). Make life simple and book with someone else.

I have tried to resolve the matter with Carjet, with three emails in the last month, including escalating to the CEO and other senior people, as well as the usual customer service email addresses. I have not received any response. They have my phone number and email address; they can easily respond to me. There is plenty of competition in this market; use a more reliable, responsible company.

Didn't read small print where a very large deposit is required more than I'm used to paying on credit card. Was told money would be refunded in 10 to 14 days. Later read that they are only supposed to block it. So went somewhere else paying only 200.00 deposit and not over a thousand and returned in 2 to 3 days

Be smart and look for another car rental company. Carjet has deleted all contact details from their website since the Covid-19 crisis started.
Our flight of 14.07.2020 with arrival early on 15.07.2020 in Reukjavik was cancelled by the airline. We immediately changed our car rental to the next day as the flight was going then.
No car on our arrival and no carjet representative so we were forced to hire another car from another company. After lots of searches we managed to find an e-mail address and wrote to them with the request for a refund of our Euro 508,85 (Booking CJT-34758913). We never did get a reply nor a refund. Very unprofessional and not to be trusted.

if you are a woman and have a discrepancy over charging do not use this firm especially in liverpool very dismissive man on the main desk would only speak to my husband rude and was placing hand in the air even when I was not talking to him dusgraceful behaviour ' if I was not a strong woman I'd be very intimidated liverpool office avoid .

Worst car company ever! Paid 拢184 to not even get the car!! Go to pick up the car to be told I鈥檝e been midsold a policy! 45mins on hold trying to get through to their spai bush number (incurring more charges) to be told no they haven鈥檛 missold anything and will not refund me even tho they clearly have! They won鈥檛 refund me because they only refund 1 hour before booking time!

These guys are total scam artists. DO NOT BOOK A CAR WITH THEM! Their website is super shady, they take your money, and do not give you a booking reference so you have no idea if you have a booking. Then when I asked for a refund because I had to get a booking elsewhere…. they refused to give me my money back! I called their "customer service hotline" – was put on hold for 45 minutes then was promptly hung up when I did say hello. DO NOT BOOK A CAR WITH THEM!!!!! DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD!

WARNING= Do not consider using this company, like many before me i was robbed of my money by them, booking made whist stranded in London Gatwick, money taken soon after and was supposed to receive Vouchers and confirmation e-mail, nothing sent and no way of contacting them, had to hire a car from SIXT who were brilliant. Have made complaint and have just been lied to and continually fobbed off with excuses from the many e-mails from them since.

Absolute scam and I will tell every single person I know and tell them to tell everyone they know to keep clear of Carjet. Money taken and then no contact from Carjet and no car or explanation. No way of contacting them by phone or e mail. Disgusted as we were flown to London on a rescue flight and had to get back to Bristol. Will continue to warn people about this

Avoid this company at all costs! I booked a car to pick up in just over an hour from Newcastle Airport, I felt safe in the knowledge that all would be well as they clearly state on their website "Free cancellations and amendments up to cancellation". After I had paid for the car they then sent me an email with their terms and conditions these state "There is a 拢1500 excess", not a problem I thought that was fair. What they fail to say is that this is not an excess, at point of collection they physically take 拢1500 from your card and refund it on return. As I was collecting the car 40 minutes later I didn't have an additional 拢1500 to pay on a 拢140 hire. I couldn't even put this payment on my wife's card as they insisted it needed to be in my name. As such I cancelled the booking 30 minutes after I had booked it feeling safe in the knowledge I would get a refund as it stated in huge writing on their main website page. The refund has not been forthcoming and there generic reply to me has been that as I cancelled within an hour of pickup no refund is due. I cancelled 30 minutes after booking and as soon as they emailed me their terms and conditions. This is in direct contradiction of the advertising on their website. I have raised a dispute with my bank to have my money refunded and have reported the company to Trading Standards. I would encourage anyone else caught out by this company to do the same.

This company is tucked away from all of the reputable professional car hire firms & now I know why they are absolutely abysmal,after paying for fully comprehensive insurance they still want a 拢1500 deposit on a credit card, when I refused the car after a multitude of rubbish service & was told a refund would be no problem, but yes you guessed it they have refused to refund my money & also asked me to stop putting reviews on here !!,but I will not as I want to warn others what a rubbish company /companies this is DO NOT USE under any circumstances they are total scammers,take you鈥檙e money but No service, absolute Rubbish!!!

I am so pleased I read these reviews before booking. I never believe offers that are too good to be true, as usualy they are. Thank you to those unfortunate people who have suffered at the hands of this comany – hopefully others will read customer reviews first and not use them either. No customers will mean no business!

Platinum Excess Waiver scam. The Carjet web page miss leads you into thinking there Platinum Excess Waiver will allow you to collect the car without a credit card, this is not the case!! go direct to hire car companies, carjet is a middleman!

Don鈥檛 go with Carjet. I went in the Algarve, hidden costs to the point when I got there I couldn鈥檛 pick up the vehicle and I was stranded because they tried to lump extra unaffordable costs with me. They may look attractive being cheaper at the outset but believe me they鈥檙e not when it comes to getting the car. I tried to claim some wrongly sold insurance back as I wasn鈥檛 even using the car for the week I paid for it because of extra costs, and they replied along the lines of 鈥榶ou should have read terms and conditions鈥? yes, the same terms and conditions that 99.9% of people do not and will not read. No refund. Thieves. Avoid.

Claire, Have just picked up car hire, Although I have paid for my own comprehensive insurance(which I produced.From Insure.com), I was still obliged to pay extra Insurance of 鈧?0 . I could not take the car otherwise. The car was covered in scratches and the rear windscreen wiper is missing. Surprice manager said " it's not raining so isn't an issue!!!!I" It smells of cigarette smoke. It hasn't been properly washed. Don't really feel impressed or liable to recommend Carjet. Let's hope we can come to an amicable resolution?. Regards Graham Robinson

Booked and paid for car for 14 days.Pickup said 10.00am.I thought i can pick up from 10.00am.My flight details given shows i not arrive until 12.25.No car waiting and no refund .Scam from the start.I don't know how this company is not regulated and closed down as the reviews speak for themselves

Booked a car through this site for my elderly relative over from Australia but when she then went to collect the car the agent said they didn鈥檛 have one available! Eventually after a long wait a car was found for them but not before putting a lot of stress on her, I would not use this site again & most definitely wouldn鈥檛 recommend it.

Why, oh why, didn鈥檛 I read reviews of this company before I made a booking? I鈥檒l tell you why: It appeared at the top of my Google search, looked like a great deal, and seemed legit. I was duped, and鈥攁s I read here鈥攕o were many others. The whole thing appears to be a scam, with no legal recourse for victims of abuse.

This company would get NO stars if there was an option to. Reference CJT-33349675. My mother paid for a car to be used 01/02/20-19/01/20. Prior to the 01/02/20 she called to move the collection date from 01/02/20 to 02/02/20 but, for some reason, the change request was not actioned and when she went to collect the car, on 02/02/20, she was told the booking had been cancelled. She had NOT cancelled the booking. She was then told that if she required a car she had to pay for another booking and that the payment for the original booking would not be refunded. Clearly this has caused and elderly, vulnerable, pensioner great stress and inconvenience. All she wanted to do is use the car that she had paid for. When you call to take the matter up they leave you hanging for ages and cut you off. When you email Carjet and DoYouSpain they take no responsibility for their agent not carrying out the request they were asked to do. They have failed to provide their escalation process and we have asked them to listen to the recorded call which they have not proved they have done. It seems their policy now is to simply just ignore any further correspondence.

They will not refund the money paid for 5 days car hire plus insurance, when the car was not supplied by their partner EasiRent. They are both crooks. STAY AWAY FROM BOTH OF THEM.
