GotFreeFax.com is an online fax tool that allows you to send a quick, free fax by uploading one to three pages to their site which is then automatically faxed to your recipient, for free. You are not given the option of emailing them your pages/file, you have to upload it to their site. For a small fee, you can send a larger fax or you can buy future fax pages for a few dollars. GotFreeFax.com works for simple, one to three page faxes that do not have to appear professional, are not time critical and do not require technical support from GotFreeFax.com. I have used GotFreeFax.com for these types of faxes and they have worked adequately. However, if you wish to send a fax with: more than three pages, has to be received in a timely fashion or has to appear professionally produced, you are on your own.
GotFreeFax.com provides only cursory user information and no technical support. They do not list a phone number anywhere on their website. If you send them an email or use their online, feedback, form, they take hours, days or forever to respond. I purchased their One Hundred Pages for $9.95, option and successfully sent a couple quick faxes to my lawyer, who did not care about how the pages looked. A few months later, I had to fax an eleven page fax to a financial institution. The financial institution emailed me a pdf packet of forms to fill out and I had to attach a few pages to the packet.
I completed the forms and gathered the attachments. I scanned them all to make them digital. Then GotFreeFax.com failed me. My first problem was that, even though I filled in my login information, and they acknowledged it, their input page did not change from the three page/file free, format. I spent two hours trying to figure out what they expected me to do. I put all the pages in a file folder and tried to upload the file but it would not. I tried loading three pages at a time and that did not work. I sent them an email. No answer. I sent them one of their feedback forms. No answer. I waited overnight and tried again. No answer.
As a last resort, I opened a word processing text file and inserted each page one-by-one into a .doc formatted file. This, of course, caused the pages to look less than professional, since the lines of the original pages were evident and the pages appeared grey against a white background, making it look like just what it was, a cut and pasted Hail Mary. I then tried to upload this new document. It took about seventeen minutes to upload. All the time it was uploading, I had no idea if it was working since GotFreeFax.com does not provide any type of upload progress icon. After another 20-25 minutes, I did receive a Fax Sent Successfully, email.
If you are willing to spend hours learning their system through trial and error and can remember the process you discovered until the next time you need to send a fax (or take the time to make notes and put them where you will be sure to find them the next time you need to send a fax) GotFreeFax.com may work for you. If you have neither the time, patience or willingness to work for GotFreeFax.com for free, I recommend that you look elsewhere for your online faxing needs.

Unfortunately, this site facilitates outgoing faxes only. I'm not aware of a source for free incoming faxes, aside from trials. (eFax still will enable free faxes for its basic customers, but will currently accept only paid subscriptions.)
